I was the patient

At 16, after years of trauma, I found bodybuilding. I got certified through NASM, trained every single day, tracked every gram of food, and competed in bodybuilding at 16 and 17 years old. I thought I was being healthy. What I was actually doing was pushing my already-stressed body past its limit.
The symptoms that followed — the digestive chaos, the skin that wouldn't clear, the exhaustion, the hormonal dysfunction — sent me to GI specialists, naturopaths, and registered dietitians. Every single one told me the same thing: take anxiety medication and eat more fiber.
I knew deep down that there was a way to heal. I was determined to figure it out — even if I had to do it myself.
